We start on Panama’s Pacific coast in Santa Catalina, where the pace is easy and Coiba is offshore. Divers get three full dive days. Non-divers have their own planned experiences, so nobody is sitting around waiting for the boat to come back.

Then we shift gears and finish in Panama City with a private cooking experience, the Panama Canal, Casco Viejo and a proper farewell dinner.

This is a real dive component, not a quick add-on. Certified divers head offshore for three full dive days, with two dives planned each day.

Like the way we structure Dive Bali, the exact sites stay flexible. Conditions, currents and where the diving is best that week determine the final plan. The goal is not to force a checklist. The goal is to put you in the best water available.

Coiba is known for Pacific marine life such as sharks, rays, turtles and large schools of fish. Wildlife is never guaranteed, but this is exactly the kind of diving people come here for.

Getting There

One flight plan. No guesswork.

For South Florida guests, the cleanest arrival is from Miami International (MIA), not Fort Lauderdale. The reason is simple: we need to land early enough to make the private transfer to Santa Catalina and complete dive-shop check-in before Sunday morning's first Coiba dive.

Miami (MIA) → Panama City (PTY)
Nonstop on Copa Airlines. Current schedules show early-morning departures around 6:00 a.m. (typically CM173 or CM246), reaching Tocumen at about 8:00 a.m. local time. That puts the group on the road to Santa Catalina in the morning, with a mid-afternoon arrival for gear fitting, certification verification and dinner.
Target: arrive PTY by about 8:30 a.m.

Panama City (PTY) → Miami (MIA)
Nonstop home after breakfast. Plan on a late-morning or early-afternoon departure from PTY. We will reconfirm the preferred group flight and exact flight number before guests ticket their airfare.
Return from PTY, not a regional airport
Why not Fort Lauderdale on the way down? Copa's current FLL → PTY nonstop is an evening departure, around 6:13 p.m., which lands too late for the same-day drive to Santa Catalina and the dive-center check-in we want completed before the first dive day. Guests coming from cities other than South Florida should plan to be at PTY early Saturday morning; arriving Friday and staying an extra night in Panama City is the safer option if an early Saturday arrival is not possible. Airline schedules can change, so the final recommended flight will be reconfirmed before purchase.
The Journey

Seven days with one easy flow: Pacific coast first, Panama City second.

Day 1 • Saturday

Arrive in Panama

Take the recommended early nonstop from Miami to PTY, meet the group and transfer together to Santa Catalina. Arrive mid-afternoon for dive-center check-in, gear fitting and certification verification, then settle in for dinner.

Day 2 • Sunday

Coiba Dive Day One

Certified divers head out for two dives. Non-divers follow their own planned local experience. Group evening back in Santa Catalina.

Day 3 • Monday

Coiba Dive Day Two + Massage

Two more dives offshore, with non-diver activities on land. Massage time is worked into the Santa Catalina portion.

Day 4 • Tuesday

Coiba Dive Day Three + Horseback Riding

The final two dives. Horseback riding and additional local time are scheduled around the group’s day.

Day 5 • Wednesday

Panama City + Private Cooking Night

Transfer to Panama City, settle in and finish the day with a private cooking experience and dinner.

Day 6 • Thursday

Canal, Casco Viejo & Farewell Dinner

See the Panama Canal, explore Casco Viejo, then gather for the final dinner of the trip.

Day 7 • Friday

Fly Home

Breakfast, airport transfer to PTY and a late-morning or early-afternoon nonstop flight home. Our last dive is Tuesday, leaving well over 24 hours before Friday flying.

Good questions before you book.

How many guests are going?
This trip is limited to only 10 guest spots.
What does double occupancy mean?
Two guests share one hotel room. Couples may share one bed. Travelers who need separate beds should tell us at registration, and we will request a two-bed room where available. Bed-type requests are subject to hotel availability.
What airport do I fly into?
Fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City. The trip begins with the group transfer from PTY to Santa Catalina and finishes back in Panama City.
What flight should I book from South Florida?
Plan on the early-morning nonstop from Miami International (MIA) to PTY on Saturday, March 20. Current Copa schedules show departures around 6:00 a.m., typically CM173 or CM246, arriving around 8:00 a.m. We will reconfirm the exact preferred flight before you purchase airfare.
Why are you recommending Miami instead of Fort Lauderdale?
Timing. The current nonstop from Fort Lauderdale leaves in the evening, which is too late to land, make the long transfer to Santa Catalina and complete dive-shop check-in before our Sunday morning dive day.
Is international airfare included?
No. International airfare is separate from the $2,700 double-occupancy and $3,000 single-occupancy trip prices. For planning, we have been budgeting roughly $500 round trip from South Florida, but airfare can move up or down.
Do I need to be a certified diver?
To participate in the six included certified-dive outings, yes. Open Water certification or higher is the baseline. Non-divers are absolutely welcome and will have a separate planned experience while the dive group is offshore.
Do I need to bring proof of certification?
Yes. The dive operator requires proof of certification. Bring your physical or digital certification card. PADI and SSI certifications can often be verified online, but you should not count on arriving without proof.
How many dives are included?
Six dives total: two dives per day over three consecutive dive days in Coiba National Park.
How experienced do I need to be?
Coiba offers sites suitable for a range of certified divers, but conditions can change and some sites can have stronger current or deeper profiles. The dive team selects sites according to the group's experience, weather and sea conditions. We will ask your certification level, total logged dives and the date of your most recent dive when you register.
What if I have not dived in a while?
Tell us when your last dive was. If your skills are rusty, the dive operator may recommend or require a refresher before the Coiba dives. The goal is not to keep anyone out of the water; it is to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe once the boat leaves shore.
What are the Coiba dive days actually like?
Expect full days. The dive center normally meets around 7:30 a.m., the boat ride to Coiba is about 1½ hours, and the group usually returns around 3:30–4:00 p.m. Typical dives run about 50 minutes and can range roughly 10–30 meters (33–98 feet), depending on the site, conditions and diver experience.
Is dive gear included?
Yes. Standard rental gear is included for the six scheduled dives, along with tanks, weights, a dive computer if needed, lunch, fruit and water on dive days. You are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer the fit and familiarity.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Bring or use a wetsuit if you tend to get cold. Coiba can be warm, but from mid-March into early June thermoclines can bring noticeably cooler water. The operator has 3 mm full wetsuits available.
Do I need Nitrox?
No. Nitrox is not required for the standard Coiba profiles. Certified Enriched Air divers can request it directly from the dive operator if available; any Nitrox upgrade would be optional and separate.
Do I need dive insurance?
The dive operator strongly recommends dive accident insurance or travel insurance that specifically covers scuba diving. DAN or equivalent dive-accident coverage is a smart choice because ordinary health or travel policies may limit or exclude diving-related treatment.
Will I have to sign dive paperwork?
Yes. The dive operator requires its own liability release and check-in paperwork, and Amazing Soulcations also uses its trip registration and activity waivers. Complete them before travel whenever possible so the first dive morning stays easy.
Can the dive sites or schedule change?
Yes. Currents, visibility, weather and sea conditions decide the safest and best sites each day. The dive professionals have final say on site selection and whether conditions are suitable. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Can I fly right after the last dive?
No. We intentionally built in more than 24 hours between the final dive on Tuesday and the flight home on Friday. That gives the dive group a generous no-fly window before departure.
What if I don’t dive?
You can absolutely join. Diving is a major part of the Santa Catalina portion, but non-divers will have their own planned experiences while the certified dive group is offshore. Everyone comes back together for the rest of the hosted itinerary.
What does all-inclusive on the ground mean?
Your planned lodging, ground transportation, meals, included activities and hosted itinerary are covered. International airfare, alcoholic beverages, personal shopping and optional extras are separate.
